Privacy Policy

effective 7 aug 2026

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy describes how the NSWFURS site operator ("we", "us", "our") collects, holds, uses, and discloses personal information in connection with the website at nswfurs.com, including its beta testing area (the "Service"). We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles to the extent they apply.

2. Personal information we collect

We collect only the following:

  • Launch list email addresses, when you voluntarily submit one through the notification form;
  • Beta feedback, if you submit feedback in the beta area, including any contact details you choose to include in it;
  • Account information, if you create a beta account: your email address, chosen handle, display name, a cryptographic hash of your password (we never store the password itself), and your declaration that you are 16 or older;
  • Profile details you choose to share, such as pronouns, fursona details, and an about text. These are optional, provided by you, and visible to other beta participants;
  • Uploaded images, if you add them to your beta profile: an avatar, a profile banner, a page background, and art gallery images. These are visible to other beta participants and must comply with the content rules in the Beta Testing Policy;
  • Beta interactions, such as boops: who sent one to whom, and when. Only the total count is shown publicly;
  • Technical log data, generated automatically by our server for security and diagnostic purposes, including IP addresses, request timestamps, and user agent strings.

We do not collect real names, dates of birth, payment details, or any other category of personal information at this stage of the Service.

3. Purposes of collection, holding, and use

We collect, hold, and use personal information solely to:

  • send a single launch notification email to the launch list;
  • operate beta accounts: signing in, confirming your email address, and displaying your chosen handle and display name to other beta participants;
  • read and act on beta feedback;
  • maintain the security, stability, and integrity of the Service, including detecting and preventing abuse; and
  • comply with our legal obligations.

We do not use personal information for marketing, profiling, or advertising. We do not sell personal information under any circumstances.

4. Cookies and tracking

The Service sets two functional cookies: one that keeps authorised beta testers signed in to the beta area, and one that keeps you logged in to your beta account. Neither contains personal information and neither is used for tracking. The Service uses no analytics platforms, advertising cookies, or third party trackers of any kind.

5. Disclosure

We do not disclose personal information to third parties, except:

  • to our infrastructure providers listed in section 6, strictly as necessary to operate the Service;
  • where disclosure is required or authorised by law, including in response to a valid warrant, subpoena, or order of a court or regulator; or
  • where reasonably necessary to prevent a serious threat to life, health, or safety.

6. Storage, security, and overseas transfer

Data is stored on a server located in Australia, administered solely by the site operator. Encrypted backups of the Service database are stored with Cloudflare, Inc. (R2 object storage), whose storage infrastructure for our account is located in North America. Launch notification and transactional email is delivered via Resend, Inc., a United States email service provider, which processes recipient email addresses for that purpose.

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure, including transport layer encryption (HTTPS), key-based server authentication, firewalling, and the principle of collecting the minimum data necessary.

7. Retention and deletion

Launch list email addresses are retained until the launch notification is sent or until you request deletion, whichever comes first, after which they are deleted within a reasonable period. Beta account data is retained until you delete your account or request its deletion, or until the beta database is reset (the Beta Testing Policy notes that beta data can be wiped at any time). Beta feedback is retained while it remains useful for development. Server logs rotate automatically. Backup copies expire in accordance with our backup retention schedule of thirty days for daily backups.

8. Access, correction, and deletion requests

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of the personal information we hold about you at any time by emailing admin@nswfurs.com. We will respond within a reasonable period. Deletion of a launch list address is actioned on request without conditions.

9. Complaints

If you believe we have mishandled your personal information, contact us first at admin@nswfurs.com and we will investigate and respond. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time by publishing the updated version on this page with a revised effective date. This policy will be expanded before the full Service launches with user accounts and content features.
